From Product Specialist to Project Leader in cancer care

Here is one of their stories. 

Andy’s career at Transmedic, an EBOS MedTech company, demonstrates the diversity and significance of a role in healthcare technology. He began as a Product Specialist in Interventional Radiology, supporting innovative treatments such as chemo-embolisation beads and Y90 radio-embolisation. 

As Transmedic expanded, so did Andy’s scope. Moving into Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine, he embraced a completely new portfolio and the challenge of supporting cancer centres across Malaysia. 

“We’re helping cancer centres to set up Gallium-68 services (medical imaging with PET scans), everything from planning the infrastructure to starting the service. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of that process.” 

Now a Product Manager, Andy plays a pivotal role in driving projects from concept to delivery. He collaborates closely with specialists across oncology, urology, and other disciplines, ensuring hospitals across the region have the right equipment, insights, and support to deliver outstanding patient care. 

“No two days are the same. One moment I am answering emails from customers across the region; the next I am at a hospital troubleshooting a generator installation or meeting with clinicians.” 

Making an impact 

One of Andy’s most memorable experiences has been assisting during mechanical thrombectomy procedures for stroke patients. 

“Patients can come in unable to speak or move one side of their body. Right after the procedure you sometimes see an immediate recovery. It’s stuck with me because you see, right in front of you, that what we do makes a difference.” 

Bridging awareness and culture 

Growing up in East Malaysia, Andy understands the impact of education on patient outcomes. For example, Stroke awareness in rural areas has traditionally been low, with some communities relying on traditional home remedies instead of going to hospital. 

Working with the National Head of Neurologists in East Malaysia, Andy helped run patient-awareness programmes. “Hospitals started seeing more stroke cases, but also getting them earlier, when intervention makes the most difference,” he says. 

For Andy, bridging awareness and culture isn’t just part of his role at Transmedic, it’s how he helps turn access into outcomes, ensuring every community benefits from better systems and better care. 

A culture of collaboration 

Andy says the company’s culture is a major reason he has stayed. 

“We come from different regions, but we work together as one group. It’s not hierarchical; if there’s an issue, we discuss it and solve it together. People here are friendly and approachable, and I’ve learned a lot from the management team about managing stress and customers.” 

He also credits his manager, Prisca, for guidance and support. “She doesn’t just give orders; she guides and works together with us to provide the best solutions for our customers,” Andy explains. “That makes a huge difference.” 

More than a job 

For Andy, deep product knowledge and understanding a doctor’s practice go together. This expertise allows him to add value beyond the product itself, becoming a trusted partner to clinicians and a contributor to better patient care.
